Hollye Dexter

Hollye Dexter and the Brave Souls

Hollye Dexter

Hollye had an unconventional childhood, having spent her early formative years on the road with her guitar player Dad, and started writing and performing in the coffeehouses and clubs at age fourteen with her songwriting partner Vonda Shepard. She was a child actress, starring in the popular 1978 film "The Wilderness Family" and had a recurring role as a troubled teen on the soap "General Hospital". But her musical debut, age 11, at the "Beef n' Barrel Talent Contest" somehow hooked her, and music has been her focus ever since.
Hollye spent the early part of her career as a live and studio backup singer for other artists, but in recent years has clearly defined herself as a solo artist and community activist. She has sung backgrounds on more than 20 albums, done T.V., film projects, corporate events and has toured America and Japan. Her main focus now is running The Music Heals Foundation and promoting her band The Brave Souls. In addition to her music career, Hollye is also a mother of two and a painter.
She strives to be a positive role model in the music industry, and strongly encourages her audiences to reach out and make a difference in their communities.
