Personal
Born in Oklahoma
City and grew up in San Luis Obispo, Ca. (www.sanluisobispo.com),
which is midway between Los Angeles and San Francisco. Parents still live in San
Luis Obispo. Father is a very good Jazz piano player who is still playing and
active in the local Jazz scene.
Studied violin, guitar and drums before settling on
electric bass at the age of 12. Fell in love with acoustic bass in high school
and studied acoustic and electric bass privately and in school.
Attended Cuesta College and North Texas State University
briefly but preferred on-the-job training
Moved to Los Angeles in 1981 and began the journey toward
the professional level.
Music tastes range from Average White Band to XTC, with
stops along the way for Miles Davis, Steely Dan and Parliament. In other words,
I like a wide variety of music!
Hobbies include a passion for tennis, biking at the
beach, and reading.
Professional
Gigs, gigs and more gigs. Living in
Los Angeles and surviving as a freelance musician involves playing in every
imaginable musical situation. This diversity of styles makes it necessary to
have a very high level of skill.
